As a follow up to 2023’s European Youth Event (EYE2023), young people will discuss with MEPs the EYE2023 ideas that gained the most support, in a public hearing on Tuesday.

EP President Roberta Metsola will deliver the opening speech at the hearing, after which ten young “EYEdea boosters”, selected through an open call from different countries in Europe, will present and discuss the “Youth Ideas Report” with MEPs, with a focus on the concerns of young voters ahead of the 2024 European Elections.

Later in the afternoon, MEPs and youth organisations, as well as representatives from other EU institutions and international organisations, will gather in ten workshops, one per each idea included in the report, to discuss how to develop and promote these issues.

When: Tuesday 7.11 from 13.30-15.00 CET (Presentation and debates) and 15.30-17.30 (workshops)

Where: EP in Brussels, SPAAK building, room 4B1

How to attend: the event is open to journalists with accreditation; it can be followed live on EP’s Multimedia Centre.

Background

The Youth Ideas Report, published in 24 languages, is the culmination of the EYE2023 event where 8,500 young people met on 9-10 June in Strasbourg to share and shape their own views on the future of Europe. It comprises the 15 most popular ideas on issues important for young people, e.g. on tackling disinformation, traineeships, reproductive and sexual health education, climate change, food waste and more.

The European Youth Event brings together thousands of young people from all over the European Union and the world. It is a unique opportunity for 16- to 30-year-olds to interact, inspire each other and exchange views with experts, activists, influencers and decision-makers, right in the heart of European democracy. The 2023 event focused on the 2024 European elections, the role of democracy, and youth engagement.
