Press conference: Assessing conflict of interests of Commissioners-designate

Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee Ilhan Kyuchyuk (Renew, BG) will brief journalists on the procedural steps to evaluate Commissioners-designate’ s declarations of financial interests.

The press conference will also be web streamed live and recorded on the Parliament’s Multimedia Centre.

Background

According to Parliament’s rules of procedure, the Legal Affairs Committee is responsible for assessing each commissioner-designate’ s potential conflict of financial interests. This procedure is confidential and it is a precondition for a candidate’s hearing in the European Parliament. The Legal Affairs Committee must confirm in writing the absence of any conflict of interest in order for the candidate to be heard by the relevant committee.
