Opening the 12-13 November 2025 plenary session, President Metsola led MEPs in remembering the victims of the 13 November 2015 Paris Islamist attacks.

President Metsola led Parliament in commemorating the brutal terrorist attacks that took place in Paris on 13 November 2015. She remembered the 130 people who were killed, the 400 people who were physically injured and the many others left deeply traumatised. We stand beside France, its people, and all those still living with this unimaginable pain and loss, she said, adding that terrorism is an attack against European values, and against peace and tolerance.

President Metsola noted that when faced with terror, solidarity triumphed over division. This is what it means to be European, she said, and nothing can rob us of this humanity, not even fear. Reaffirming Parliament’s full commitment to the fight against terrorism and radicalisation, and to protect Europe’s citizens, President Metsola promised to convey this message of solidarity when she travels to Paris tomorrow to represent the European Parliament at the memorial events.
