International Medieval Combat Tournament to Be Held at Tuida Fortress
Tuida Fortress in Sliven will host this year’s Festival of Medieval War Games “Remember the Glory” on 26 and 27 September. The event will introduce a new tournament format and bring together fighters and historical reenactors from across Europe.
The programme will focus on tap fight duels and team battles with swords and shields. Participants from Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, France, the Czech Republic and Serbia are expected to compete.
The festival is organized by the Regional History Museum “Dr. Simeon Tabakov” in Sliven in partnership with the Bulgarian School of Ancient Martial Arts “Velichie”, with support from the Tourism Development Programme of Sliven Municipality.
Independent fighters and reenactment groups from Bulgaria are invited to join the first edition of the international tournament. The organizers also welcome participants presenting medieval daily life, culture and traditional crafts.
Information about the selection process, participation requirements, tournament rules and combat disciplines is available from Milen Petrov, head of the Bulgarian School of Ancient Martial Arts “Velichie”, at +359 889 524 130 or [email protected]. He can also be contacted through Viber, Telegram or private message.
The two-day festival will turn Tuida Fortress into a living medieval setting filled with combat demonstrations, historical reenactments and traditional crafts.
