RHM – Sliven Receives Gold Award for Its Contribution to Establishing Sliven as a Tourist Destination

The team of the Regional History Museum “Dr Simeon Tabakov” – Sliven has been awarded the Gold Award for Contribution to Establishing the Municipality of Sliven as a Tourist Destination. The award was presented by the media company K & P Advertising on the occasion of World Tourism Day – 27 September, in recognition of the museum’s overall efforts to promote Sliven and its cultural and historical heritage.

The award ceremony took place at the Central Military Club in Sofia, where the media company’s 2026 Annual Tourism Awards were presented. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Mariela Modeva, mayors of Bulgarian municipalities, representatives of national media, managers and investors.

Over the past year, the work of RHM – Sliven has focused particularly on the way the city presents its cultural heritage, history and historical figures to visitors. Behind the achievements are months of work, numerous meetings, partnerships and ideas, all united by one clear goal – to establish Sliven as a year-round, attractive and significant tourist destination.

The award recognizes the efforts of the entire museum team – the development of programmes and events, participation in tourism fairs and initiatives, cooperation with partners and, of course, the everyday encounters with visitors.

It is also recognition of our commitment to presenting history not simply as a collection of facts, but as an engaging story, an experience and an invitation to discover.

We believe that cultural heritage does not belong solely to the past. It has its place in the present and can play an important role in shaping the future of the city. This is why RHM – Sliven continues to explore new ways of presenting its exhibitions, museum sites, historical figures and stories to an ever-wider audience.

The most valuable recognition of this work, however, comes from the visitors themselves – from the people who leave Sliven with impressions, memories and a desire to share their experience and return again.

The Gold Award is recognition of what has been achieved so far, but also an incentive to continue moving in the same direction.
